The Line where the sky meets the sea is calling Moana once again. The 2016 Oscar-nominated film Moana’s sequel “Moana 2” will be released on November 27, 2024, said Walt Disney Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger on CNBC in Disney’s first quarter fiscal report 2024.
“Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise,” and it was originally planned as a TV series, said Iger. “And we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when Moana 2 comes to theaters this November.”
Moana 2 is Directed by Dave Derrick Jr. and music by Abigail Barlow, Emily Bear, and Mark Mancina The Grammy award Winners and Grammy nominee Opetaia foa’I.
Disney revealed that this musical animated “Moana 2” takes the audiences on an expansive voyage with Moana, Maui, and new crew members. After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure, unlike anything she’s ever faced.
Moana’s success for Disney with 1 billion hours steamed and generated about $680 million at the box office last year.
Disney’s performance at the box office led Iger to release “Moana 2” in 2023 Disney’s Animations “Wish” “The Marvels,” “Haunted Mansion” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” Was a rough time and didn’t work.
Star Casting of Moana 2
Star casting is likely to be as it was before but there is some if and but whether Dwayne Johnson “@therock” was coming back to his ‘Maui’s iconic role as the demigod. The news seems that Dwayne Johnson the action star is in talks with Disney+ and it’s looking ok, as Maui says, “You are welcome.”
Disney+ still has not decided whether Auli’I Cravalho will come back as the voice of Moana. Cravalho already said on social media that she won’t reprise Moana Voice in the live-action version of the movie.
